What we do
NEAT – New Electronic Arts Trieste is an international festival of new media and live cinema held annually in Trieste since 2021. It explores the intersections between visual arts, electronic music, experimental cinema, and emerging technologies, offering a multidisciplinary program of audiovisual and multimedia performances, cutting-edge exhibition of new media installations, and educational activities.
The festival features internationally renowned artists alongside emerging talents, with a strong focus on young composers and audiovisual creators under 35. Each evening opens with works by students from the Electronic Music and New Technologies departments of the Trieste and Padua conservatories, followed by immersive performances designed for a diverse and curious audience.
Through hands-on workshops focused on do-it-yourself culture, hardware, and software creation, NEAT fosters experimentation and open access to artistic tools. A national open call offers a residency each year, supporting the development of a new work to be premiered at the following edition of the festival.
NEAT is a project by New Electronic Arts Trieste – ETS, supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
